Jones Onyereri, a member of the House of Representatives, has compared the 2019 election to a contest between the biblical characters, David and Goliath.

Onyereri told the Daily Trust that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will record a surprising victory over the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2019 elections.

The lawmaker who is the PDP candidate for Imo west senatorial zone, said the 2019 election is a battle that will be fought spiritually and not physically.

He stated that was he was neither afraid of Governor Rochas Okorocha, who is the APC senatorial candidate for Imo west, nor any other candidate because he is confident he will win the election.

“You read about the account of David and Goliath in the Bible. That is how the election will be conveyed. It is will more of spiritual rather than physical contest. So I am not worried because I know that God is in control,” Onyereri said.

Meanwhile, the political challenge currently rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo took a new twist on Tuesday, December 4, with the resignation of Jones Onwuasoanya as the publicity secretary of the party in the state.

Onwuasoanya, also described the party as a cult group just as he accused Adams Oshiomhole, its national chairman, of being behind the problems that have taken over the organisation.

His resignation is coming days after a reconciliation committee of the party visited the state and met with Governor Rochas Okorocha and some aggrieved members.
