Then Jueln Lopetegui was given the mantle to handle affairs at the Bernabeu but was sacked in October for poor strings of results.

Santiago Solari became Lopetegui's successor and has been handed a two-and-a-half-year deal, but with way things are going, the Argentine coach might be given the boot at the end of the season.

On the other hand, Mourinho has reiterated his desire to see out the remaining 18 months in his contract at United and even sign a new deal.

But the ex-Chelsea manager has been frustrated with his lack of signings by United's hierarchy especially a center-back.
