Determined student who begged for fees finally raises enough money to settle university (photos)

- A young South African student owed a technological higher institution over N770,000

A former student of Tswhane University of Technology (TUT) who resorted to begging to pay off his fees has finally raised the required amount.

The student named Phakamani Dludla owed TUT more than N770,000. The university, therefore, withheld his certificates

This compelled a determined Phakamani to ask fellow students and other well-wishers for donations to pay the outstanding amount, Legit,ng learned.

After begging for two weeks, Phakamani finally raised the required amount and paid it off last week. The university has consequently awarded him his certificates.

He said: "Sometimes pride doesn’t help you, it just holds you back. I wish people in need would go door to door and ask for help. Do not block your own opportunities by keeping quiet. People are willing to help."

The young man took to Facebook to post a photo of himself holding a placard that said, "Thank you!!!" He also proudly displayed his diploma and B-Tech certificates.

Phakamani said he's now prepared to join the job market. He is studying for a "Teach English as a Foreign Language" certificate. He said it would enable him get a teaching job in China.
