Lyon's Ada Hegerberg wins first women's Ballon d'Or in history

Norwegian international Ada Hegerberg becomes the first winner of the Women's Ballon d'Or award.

The Lyon star emerged winner of the individual after beating other women including Pernille Harder (Denmark/Wolfsburg), Dzsenifer Maroszan (Germany/Lyon), Marta (Brazil/Orlando Pride) and Sam Kerr (Australia/Chicago Red Stars).

The 23-year-old striker helped Lyon win the women's French league and Champions League this after defeating rivals Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Despite losing out to one of the most prolific female footballers of all time Marta in FIFAtheBest award, Hegerberg has held her own to become the first Ballon d'Or winner.

She scored a remarkable 28 goals in 17 appearance for Lyon last season as well as netting 38 in 66 at international level.
