- The Akoko-Edo Youth Vanguard says will stand against any attempt to remove Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the APC
- Comrade Segun Jasper calls the interrogation of Oshiomhole by the DSS an embarassment to lovers of democracy
- Jasper says the group is mobilising to storm Abuja in protest against the harassment of Oshiomhole
The Akoko-Edo Youth Vanguard, a group which supports Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that it would resist any plan to sack the former governor from office or humiliate him.
The group rated Oshiomhole high in achievements since he became the chairman of the APC adding that this had seen him re-positioning the party and making it win the Ekiti and Osun state governorship polls.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the national coordinator of the group, Comrade Segun Jasper, said the use the Department of State Services (DSS) to harass Comrade Oshiomhole is an exercise in futility.
The report said Jasper urged Nigerians not to take the complaints and grievances of some aggrieved governors seriously since the National Working Committee of the APC carried out its actions in the best interest of the party.
According to Jasper, the group is planning to mobilize over 20,000 of its members to Abuja to protest the humiliation of Oshiomhole.
“We know the fifth columnists in the APC that are working for the opposition PDP. What we know is that their plans will fall to pieces.
“The questioning of our national chairman is an embarrassment to lovers of democracy in the ruling APC.
“We will not sit back and watch some selfish governors orchestrate their evil plans against Oshiomhole.
“We have resolved to storm Abuja next week Tuesday (November 13) with thousands of our supporters to show solidarity to our chairman and thank him for leading the APC in the path of light,” he said.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the leadership of the APC will be meeting with state governors next week to determine the fate of the embattled national chairman of the ruling party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
A prominent member of the party, who spoke to the newspaper on Friday, November 9 on condition of anonymity, stated that as a precursor to the meeting, the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, and Oshiomhole, met in Paris, France, on Thursday, November 8.
