APC crisis: Imo governorship candidate missing from INEC list

APC crisis: Imo governorship candidate missing from INEC list

- Fresh crisis looms in APC as the name of the party's governorship candidate was missing from INEC list

- This followed the court order stopping the electoral commission from recognising name from the ruling party

- The list, however, has 3 female governorship candidates vying for Imo governor's seat

Another crisis may befall the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state as the name of the party's governorship candidate, Hope Uzodima, was reportedly missing following the publication of candidates list by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a report available in The Punch, 67 governorship candidates and their respective running mates were published by the commission at its Owerri office, the state capital, but the name of Senator Uzodima was found missing.

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that Uzodinma had defeated Uche Nwosu, the anointed candidate of Governor Rochas Okorocha to win the APC governorship ticket.

It also noted that Uzodinma's emergence against Imo state governor's will has boomeranged into fracas within the party from state to the national level, leading to incessant media assault between the party's national chairman and Governor Rochas.

INEC, when asked the reason behind the omission, said it received a court injunction stopping it from publishing the name of APC candidate pending the time the case would be settled.

Candidates who are on the INEC lists are a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ike Ibe of the Independent Party (IP) and a former senator, Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Three female governorship candidate in the list include Omeogu Chidiebere of African Action Congress (AAC) Joy Udodiri of (MMN) and Adaku Ibe of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP)

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo, said his name had not been dropped as the gubernatorial candidate of APC in the state.

Contrary to reports that the National Working Committee of the ruling party had adopted Senator Hope Uzodinma as its candidate, Nwosu insisted that he remained the authentic governorship candidate of the party.
