In today's Nigeria, women are becoming more conscious of their roles and place in the society so that the ills done to them by the opposite gender within their community are now more noticed than ever. Although these ladies are making attempt to militate against these wrongs, it is well becoming harder to do so.
Recently, a Nigerian lady took to sharing the unpleasant experience she had with a man. According to the lady whose name on Twitter is the Fit Lawyer, she was assaulted by a person on the Lekki link Bridge, Lagos.
The man who had allegedly scratched her car tried to blame her for the incident rather than accept his fault. Afterwards, he got down and got into a fight with her. During the course of the struggle, the undisclosed man allegedly slapped the lady and also broke one of her fingernails till she started bleeding.
Although this was very painful for her, what made the Fit Lawyer even more angry was the fact that the police who had supposedly come to intervene in the squabble blamed her for picking a fight with a man. The driver who had done the injustice denied having any struggle with her.
However, another female driver had taken record of the incident and upon reaching the police station, this evidence was laid out for all to see. After seeing that he had been been well exposed, the male driver took to begging the lady not to press charges.
His reason for this was that he had a wife and several kids he had to cater for. For Fit Lawyer, it was especially very painful that everyone joined in to dissuade her from pressing charges just because of his 'responsibilities' and the sheer fact that he was not even the owner of the car.
Although, she did not go ahead to press charges, The Fit Lawyer who had spent the better part of her life in different African countries concluded that Nigeria was doomed and was not a safe place for women.
