Songwriter, producer and rapper Missy Elliott has been nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The American rapper would become the first female rapper to be nominated for the prestigious award.
According to Variety,the rapper would be joined by Mariah Carey, Vince Gill, Mike Love, Chrissie Hynde, Jimmy Cliff, Jeff Lynne, Lloyd Price, Cat Stevens, John Prine and more as performing nominees.
Missy Elliott took to her Instagram page to congratulate everyone who was nominated for the same category. She also noted that she is very grateful to be nominated.
She said: "I am so HUMBLY GRATEFUL to be nominated with so many AMAZING writers❤️ & I send a CONGRATULATIONS to all the other nominees also❤️"

Six songwriters or songwriting groups would be officially inducted at the Songwriters Hall of Fame's 50th annual Induction and Awards Gala in New York on June 13, 2019.
Legit.ng gathered that any songwriter can be nominated for the induction after writing hit songs for at least twenty years.
