Valladolid nearly took the lead in the 33rd minute as Leonardo Suarez missed a glorious opportunity when faced one-on-one with Thibaut Courtois, but his chip went too high.

Minutes later, Tony Villa found himself free in the Madrid box but his shot was deflected wide for a corner kick to the visitors.

Gareth Bale was also gifted a free header but a Valladolid pressured the Welshman as he headed the ball wide.

When the half time whistle was blown, fans at the Bernabeu booed the players for their lackluster performance on the night.

The second half was more better from the Solari's men as his side showed more urgency early in the period.
