The Passing Out Parade (POP) of the 77th regular recruits intake of the Nigerian Army is taking place on Saturday, October 27; and 3,878 soldiers will be enlisted during the ceremony.
The development was made public by the commandant, Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Major-General Victor Okwudili Ezugwu, during the administration of the oath of allegiance to the new soldiers, Daily Trust reports.
Legit.ng gathers that Ezugwu further disclosed that the success of this year’s training was due to the decentralisation of the recruitment exercise to state levels. He said this helped to reduce the number of casualties.
He further charged the new intakes to use their sweat, strength and blood in protecting Nigeria.
Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, chief of Army staff, will be the chief reviewing officer for the POP.
In a related development, Legit.ng previously reported that the chief of Army staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, offered five youths of Gbajimba community in Guma local government area of Benue state automatic recruitment into the Nigerian Army.
Buratai made the announcement while interacting with members of the community, shortly after he visited troops stationed in the area to ward off herdsmen attacks.
He immediately directed the commander, 72 Special Forces Battalion, Lt Col Suleiman Mohammed, who accompanied him on the visit, to select the five youths and screen them.
