It will be unconstitutional to accept Katsina primaries result - Federal lawmaker tells APC leaders

- A federal lawmaker has said it will be unconstitutional to accept any result from Katsina state for primaries

- The lawmaker said there was no primary election in the state

- He further called on the national leadership of the party to intervene and conduct an investigation on the conduct of primary election in the state especially in Dutsima/ Kurfi constituency

The lawmaker representing Dutsima/ Kurfi constituency in Katsina state, Danlami Kurfi has said that it would be unconstitutional for the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to accept results from the primary in the state.

Kurfi while speaking to said there was no APC primary election in Katsina state on Friday, 5th October, as widely speculated.

According to the lawmaker, members and officials of the APC from the national headquarters were absent at the primaries as expected.

He said: "There was no primaries in Dutsima/Kurfi constituency were I represent. Not one official of our party was present at the venue of the primaries, this is unconstitutional.

"Not even one member of the party from the national office was present to conduct the primaries," Kurfi said.

Kurfi further called on the leadership of the APC especially the party's national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole to come to their rescue and investigate the exercise which he said, "purportedly took place in the constituency."

"I urged the APC leadership at the national secretariat, the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to come to our aid. There was no primaries in my constituency as enshrined in our constitution," Kurfi added.

Meanwhile, previously reported that some of the delegates said thugs were used by some party members to threaten people against voting their preferred candidates at the primaries.

Sources within the Katsina APC alleged that a younger brother to the commissioner of finance in the state made sure that candidates did not make use of the voting papers.

A source said: "They came to Dutsima local government and made sure nobody voted for the other aspirants. They didn't allow any of the delegate to write by himself, they said they should take their voting paper to go and give to their agents in the venue of the primaries."

It was also gathered that the thug threatened the delegates' lives, and told them that anybody who goes against their wish will have themselves to blame.
