Barcelona set to rival Chelsea in the chase for Genoa star Krzysztof Piatek

Spanish League giants Barcelona have reportedly jumped in the chase to land Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek.

The Catalans have not really been convincing in their past few games - scoring just three goals in their last three games and losing one of them to Leganes.

SunSport however report that the Camp Nou outfit are set to add depth to their attack in a bid to rotate with Luis Suarez.

Piatek, 23, has scored 13 goals in eight appearances for his Italian side this season - a record that has got top European clubs scramble for his signature.

The Polish striker is also said to be wanted by Premier League giants Chelsea, who might be hoping to find a replacement for under-firing Alvaro Morata.

Barcelona Director of Football Eric Abidal is looking for a young star to alternate with Suarez, who turns 32 in January.

And the club are expected to cough out £35 million for the striker, who has been top form for his country and club in recent times.

Flash back to September, Suarez was quoted to saying he couldn't keep playing in every fixture and should be rested for the bigger clashes.

And the club are set to make Piatek the striker that will step into the former Liverpool star's shoes at Camp Nou. earlier reported that Chelsea turned down £50 million deal offer from Spanish champions Barcelona for the signing of Brazil international Willian.

The 29-year-old midfielder was superb last season for the Blues helping them to win the FA Cup title as they defeated Manchester United in the final.

He was also in good form against Barcelona in the Champions League although his side were beaten by the Spanish club, but his performances caught the eyes of the Catalan chiefs.
