Iraqi midfielder Bashar Resan was on the pitch on Thursday night, October 11, in a friendly game against Argentina not knowing that his mother had died at home.
The international friendly game was played in Saudi Arabia and Argentina defeated Iraq 4-0 in the encounter.
Bashar Resan who started the match for Iraq had to be substituted in the second half before being told of the demise of his mother according to the report by UK Sun.
After his substitution against Argentina, Bashar Resan was said to have been pulled aside by Iraqi officials before telling him the tragic news.
Meanwhile, Iraq are due to stay in the country to play another match against Saudi Arabia, but Reshan was given clearance to leave the squad immediately and has flown home.
