- Manchester United have made an offer for Atletico Madrid's Lucas Hernandez
- The French star has a £70m release clause on his current contract at Atletico deal
- EPL champs Man City and Champions League holders Real Madrid are also chasing Hernandez
Premier League giants Manchester United are targeting Atletico Madrid star Lucas Hernandez in the forthcoming winter transfer window.
According to a UK Sun report citing Spanish media outlet, the Red Devils have tabled an amazing offer for Frenchman, who has a £70m release clause.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to land a centre-half after failing to sign one during the summer despite being linked to various defensive targets.
The report further hinted that the 22-year-old, who can play in different roles in the defence, will earn double of his current wages if he makes the switch to Old Trafford.
Hernandez is also attracting offers from the pair of EPL rivals Manchester City and Champions League holders Real Madrid.
But the French ace appears happy to stay at Atletico while responding to a question regarding his future in the summer.
“I didn’t listen to it much. I was 100 percent committed to my club and also had just renewed my contract.
“My agent told me and as soon as he said Madrid were interested I said I couldn’t do it.
“Atletico are my city, my club, they have given me everything. I am an honest person and I couldn’t go to Madrid,” admitted Lucas, who became a first-team player back in 2014, and has now emerged an important team member of Diego Someone tutored-side.
However, Mourinho remains upbeat Hernandez will be moving to Old Trafford in the coming weeks, and have informed club chiefs that the defender is his main target that will help seal United’s defence line that have conceded 14 goals so far this season.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly considering bringing striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to Old Trafford when the January 2019 transfer window opens.
The 37-year-old Swedish professional football star spent two terms at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho and left the Premier League side in March this year for a move to LA Galaxy.
In his first season at Old Trafford, Zlatan Ibrahimovic helped Manchester United to win the Europa League title and also the EFL Cup. He also scored 28 goals during Jose Mourinho's first season at Old Trafford.
