- Super Eagles getting set for their 2019 AFCON qualifying clash against Libya
- They will be hoping for outright victory in that game as they trail both South Africa and Libya with one point
- Captain John Obi Mikel has been excluded from this fixture as he was said to have suffered an injury while playing for his Chinese club side
Nigeria battle Libya this weekend in a crucial 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Having beaten Seychelles 3-0 in their second group game away from home, the Super Eagles will be hoping they can build on that performance to see off the Mediterranean Knights on Saturday.
As it stands in Group E, the three time African champions currently sit third on the table with three points - one behind both South Africa and Libya who have four points apiece.
The team have however had their first full training session at the Uyo Stadium earlier today as part of their preparations for the game.
It will be recalled that Nigeria have not appeared at the tournament since they won the 2013 edition of the championship under late coach Stephen Keshi in South Africa.
And they will be hoping they can cart away all three points from this meeting before heading to Tunisia, the adopted home of the Libyans for the second leg in four days time.
Nigeria got their campaign off to a losing after following their 2-0 defeat to South Africa at the same venue for this weekend's clash, but a 3-0 win over Seychelles boosted their chances of reaching the finals of the 2019 edition in Cameroon.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Super Eagles beat Seychelles 3-0 to pick up their first three points in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Goals from Ahmed Musa, Chigozie Awaziem and Odion Ighalo ensured Nigeria picked maximum points from that encounter ahead of their next game against Libya.
After the win, they rank third on the log with three points - one point behind joint group leaders, South Africa and Libya.
