- Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is linked with an exit from Old Trafford in January 2019
- Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be keeping vigil on the Ivorian star
- Bailly joined Manchester United in a £30m deal from Villarreal two seasons ago
Tottenham and Arsenal are heading for war after both clubs signified their intention, to sign out of favour Manchester United defender, Eric Bailly during the forthcoming winter window in January.
According to a UK Sun report citing the Daily Star, the north London neighbours are keen on signing the 24-year-old Ivorian, but Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino appears more ready to swoop for the centre-back.
The Ivorian international joined Manchester United in a £30m deal from Spanish side Villarreal two seasons ago but reportedly is no longer a favourite under club boss Jose Mourinho.
At press time, it remains uncertain if the Red Devils’ chiefs will sanction Bailly’s switch to a rival club, but they will be looking to recoup their investment on the defender.
On the other hand, the Portuguese manager could likely use the Ivorian as bait to finally land Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.
Interestingly, during Mourinho’s first season at Old Trafford, Bailly enjoyed a decent run of games in the English topflight, but since the end of the 2017-18 season and the new campaign, the Ivorian has struggled, to replicate the impressed form he displayed in his first season.
Last weekend, the defender was replaced on the 20 minute mark as Man United laboured hard to secure the hard fought 3-2 comeback win, against Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Manchester United came back from two goals down to beat Newcastle United 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 6.
