Alonso set to commit his future to Chelsea amid Real Madrid speculation

- Chelsea star Marcos Alonso is set to sign a contract extension

- The Spaniard's current deal runs out until the summer of 2021

- The 27-year-old has forced his way back to the national team

Marcos Alonso has revealed he is on the verge of signing a new deal with Chelsea to put an end to his Real Madrid speculation.

The 27-year-old has impressed since making a summer move from Serie A side Fiorentina in 2016 under Antonio Conte.

And has also been a stand-out performer under new manager Maurizio Sarri which has helped him into the Spanish national team after missing out of the World Cup.

The Spain international's current deal will run out till 2021, and the Stamford Bridge outfit has offered him an extension.

Alonso said: "I am very calm and very happy at Chelsea , and the club must also be happy with me because, although I still have two years left on my contract, they have offered me an extension.

"We are talking about it and the talks to renew are already advanced.

"If everything goes well, I think I will renew before the end of this month - in the coming days.

"My father takes care of that as he is the one who leads the negotiations," he added. "I am 27 years old, I still have two more years and I am going to extend my contract."

The former Real Madrid academy graduate is set to feature for Spain in their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches with Wales and England.

Alonso added that while his father deals with off-field concerns, his focus is firmly on on-pitch affairs.

"What concerns me is to play as well as possible to win matches and titles with Chelsea and with the national team. I'm calm with my contract."

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Chelsea superstar Marcos Alonso has rubbished rumours of his possible return to Real Madrid anytime soon.

The left full back claims to be enjoying life under new Blues manager Maurizio Sarri since he arrive from Napoli this summer.
