Post-APC primary: Adebayo Shittu attends FEC meeting

- The federal executive council has resumed its weekly meeting presided over by the president

- The meeting commenced with Lai Mohammad and Onu giving opening prayers

- At the meeting was the embattled minister of communication, Adebayo Shittu

Following the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election exercise across the the federation, the National Executive Council (FEC) has resumed its meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Punch reports that the meeting, which commenced with prayer from minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammad and Ogbonnaya Onu, the minister of science and technology is currently being held at the council chamber of the presidential villa, Abuja.

Recall that Shittu was screened out during the APC pre-primary election exercise for skipping the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), prompting calls from different quarters for his sack.

Absent at the meeting was Aisha Alhazzan. She resigned her appointment as the minister of women affairs after being screened out by the APC committee in Taraba state for anti-party action.

Meanwhile, previously reported that APC) had adopted Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate for the 2019 election.

The national secretary of the party, Maimala Buni, said the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party endorsed the candidature of the president because of the belief that he was a better candidate the party could present.
