A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state, Fatai Oyedele, popularly known as Diekola has reportedly collapsed in court.
Diekola, Segun Adekilekun and Sikiru Lawal, who were arrested by the police shortly before the governorship rerun held on September 27 were brought to the court by the police on Wednesday, October 10, The Punch reports.
But after calling the accused persons and they stepped into the dock, Diekola who had a plaster on his hand allegedly slumped. The other suspects rushed to save him.
Legit.ng gathered that Diekola, who reportedly looks very sick, was given a chair and the Magistrate, Olusegun Ayilara, ruled that he could not take the plea of a dying person.
He adjourned the case to November 23 for plea taking.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Rauf Aregbesola had questioned the mental state of some leaders of the PDP who protested at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the conduct of the state governorship election.
Aregbesola on Friday, October 5, described them as mentally unstable, when talking with journalists shortly after he and the Osun governor-elect, Gboyega Oyetola, held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja.
The governor’s comments was in response to protests by some PDP leaders demanding that INEC declare their candidate in the Osun governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the winner of the poll.
