The crises that erupted in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have been further heightened as Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara is reportedly planning a court action against the party for rejecting election results from the state.

Yari is reportedly angry that the APC annulled the governorship primary election held in the state and which generated tension.

Daily Trust reports that the primary election was cancelled midway by the Abubakar A Fari-led election committee following alleged violence and voter intimidation.

However, the annulled results were later ratified by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party which also sacked the party’s executive in the state.

In a move rejecting the NWC’s decision, the APC in Zamfara state returned Yari’s anointed candidate, Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu Idris, as gubernatorial candidate while the governor is a senatorial candidate.

The report quoted a source in the Zamfara government as saying discussions are on over the plan.

“We are at the discussion level and we will talk about it later,” the source said.

It also quoted a governorship aspirant and one of the G8 members, Alhaji Sani Jaji, as saying the members remain undeterred on the urgency to have direct primaries in which a candidate would emerge.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara on Monday, October 8, claimed that all primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2019 general elections have been concluded in the state.

Yari’s declaration came at a time when representatives of the party from the APC national headquarters said no election was held at all.
