Sam Nkire, a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as the party’s presidential candidate in the 2019 general election has changed the political climate in the country.
Leadership reports that Nkire noted that with Atiku’s emergence to fly the ticket of the PDP in 2019, there was no need telling the ruling-All progressives Congress (APC) that the game is up.
The chieftain of the PDP said the last few hours since Atiku’s emergence has shown an effervescent effect on the political climate of Nigeria.
The report quoted Nkire, who recently defected from the APC to the PDP, as saying that the wide gap between Atiku Abubakar and his closest rival was an indication of the huge acceptance he had in the party and Nigeria.
He noted that PDP still remained the inarguably the largest political party in the country, if not the African continent.
While congratulating Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over his emergence as the presidential candidate of the PDP for 2019, he said: “Atiku is one of the few capable leaders Nigeria has been waiting for. Atiku is focused and courageous and has got a plan in his hands.”
