- A group in Ijaw, known as Delta Ijaw Grassroot Political Movement (DIGPM), has pledged its support for PDP's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar
- The movement said that with Atiku as PDP's flag bearer, Nigeria's economy is on its way to revival and robustness
- The head of DIGPM, Mala Isaac, urged Nigerians to support Atiku in order to end suffering in the country
The national coordinator of Delta Ijaw Grassroot Political Movement (DIGPM), Mala Isaac, has said that only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with Atiku Abubakar as president can revive the country's economy, and set things right generally for all Nigerians, Vanguard reports.
Isaac made this statement as he spoke to newsmen in Warri. Atiku emerged as winner of the PDP presidential primary held in Port Harcourt. Isaac congratulated him on his well deserved victory.
Flanked by the DIGPM's adviser, Peter Bubor, and its national secretary, Ebikeme Abanre, Isaac praised Prince Uche Secondus, the PDP's national chairman, the National Working Committee (NWC) members and the head of the party's presidential primaries committee, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state for conducting a free and credible primary.
The DIGPM's boss maintained that with Atiku as the PDP presidential candidate, victory was sure for the party come 2019.
He stated: “When the PDP was in power for 16-years, the economy was not so bad as it is today with the All Progressives Congress, APC, in power for only four-years.”
He, therefore, charged Nigerians to support the PDP and vote out poverty and suffering from the country.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Nigerians, especially on social media had reacted to the victory of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the PDP after the party's national convention which took place in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital, on Saturday, October 6.
He is expected to provide stiff competition to President Muhammadu Buhari who emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s presidential candidate.
