- Bayern Munich attended the annual Oktoberfest celebrations on Sunday
- Club boss Niko Kovac was present despite his job being reportedly on the line
- Players appeared in traditional leather trousers alongside giant mugs of beer
Bayern Munich celebrated this year’s Oktoberfest festival after suffering a 3-0 thrashing from Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.
According to a UK Daily Mail report, for the first time in many years, the Bundesliga giants were not in winning mood heading into Oktoberfest.
Despite the defeat, Bayern squad members and technical crew were present to share the joy of the day, but the party atmosphere somehow showed that all was not well with the Bundesliga giants.
Among the club’s top players present were German ace, Mats Hummels with better-half Cathy Fischer, and Spanish midfielder Thiago, who was decked in a red waistcoat alongside partner Julia Vigas.
Thomas Muller and his wife Lisa appeared in full German traditional clothing, while club’s manager Niko Kovac, was spotted sitting alongside chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge holding giant mugs of beer.
However, it seems the managers was worried after his team’s lackluster performance despite a decent start that saw Bayern claiming seven wins across all competitions, but are now four points behind Borussia Dortmund after matchday seven in the German topflight.
The pair of Rummenigge and club president Uli Hoeness refused speaking about the club’s poor run, but sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic tried defending the coach after Saturday’s defeat.
“We have to get out of here again. We'll only do that if we pull back together again,” Salihamidzic said, even as defence ace, Javi Martinez urged his teammates not lose focus.
“We win together, we cry together, we succes together, we fail together... but I believe in this team and we will fight as always together.
“And those who talk s**t in difficult situations like this: enjoy your moment, because this team will raise up again stronger than ever!”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Manchester United have reportedly jumped in the chase to sign Bayern Munich attacker Thiago Alcantara.
The Spaniard is also wanted by his boyhood club Barcelona alongside Manchester City and Real Madrid.
However, his potential move to the Old Trafford side might only be actualised if Zinedine Zidane replaces Jose Mourinho at the club.
