Our party is ready for 2019 general elections - Oshiomhole tells opposition

- The ruling All Progressives Congress says it is ready for the 2019 general elections

- The party says with President Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate, it is ready for the forthcoming polls

- This was stated by the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole

The national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has said with President Muhammadu Buhari as the party's presidential candidate for the 2019 general elections, the APC is now ready for the polls.

Punch reports that Oshiomhole stated this at the APC presidential convention held at Eagle Square in Abuja on Saturday, October 6.

Legit.ng gathers that the APC national chairman stated that President Buhari has given a good account of himself as a leader who leads by example.

Referring to the Peoples Democratic Party's national convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, Oshiomhole said: “The other party is choosing its candidate in Port Harcourt, we will look at the records of the opponent, we will look at his pedigree, we will challenge them on their track records. We are ready for the 2019 elections.”

He told Buhari: “Mr President, sometimes I feel you are too mild. I was under threat of impeachment; I had to remove the roof of my House of Assembly in order to survive.

“One of your predecessors used seven people to remove a sitting governor. I am not in any way suggesting that you do the same."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari accepted nomination to contest for a second term in the 2019 presidential election. The over 7000 delegates had converged in Abuja to ratify the results of the presidential primaries held across the country.

President Buhari polled a total vote of of 14,842,072 votes to emerge the winner of the presidential primaries.

All roads leading to the venue were shut to vehicular traffic by combined teams of heavily armed security personnel. The agencies involved include: the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Army.
