The Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has congratulated the just elected presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
Ortom describing Atiku as an experienced administrator said, the PDP presidential candidate for 2019 is a tested politician and Nigerian who understands the problems facing the country and has the capacity to fix the challenges in Nigeria.
A statement by the spokesperson for the governor, Terver Akase, on Sunday, October 7, said: "Governor Ortom expresses confidence in the ability of the PDP Presidential candidate, who is a title holder in Benue State - (Zege Mule u Tiv), to provide credible leadership for the country, if given the mandate.
"The governor is optimistic that Nigerians will vote for the rebranded and refocused PDP in next year's elections to address the plethora of challenges confronting the country, and turn around the economy and security situation which the All Progressives Congress, APC administration has apparently failed to handle."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the former vice president, Atiku, had won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election to emerge as its presidential candidate for the 2019 presidential election.
In the election conducted on Saturday, October 6 at the party’s convention which took place in Port Harcourt, the former vice president defeated 11 other political bigwigs in the party.

He is expected to provide stiff competition to President Muhammadu Buhari who emerged as the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate.
