BREAKING: Nigerians react to Atiku's victory as PDP's presidential candidate (video)

Nigerians, especially on social media have reacted to the victory of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the party's national convention which took place in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital, on Saturday, October 6.

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election to emerge as its presidential candidate for the 2019 presidential election.

In the election conducted on Saturday, October 6, at the party’s convention which took place in Port Harcourt, Atiku defeated 11 other political bigwigs in the party.

He is expected to provide stiff competition to President Muhammadu Buhari who emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s presidential candidate.

The opposition party's bigwigs and delegates are in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital for the make or mar convention and presidential primary where they elected the presidential candidate that will be slugging it out with the president in 2019. The party said it put in place strategies to ensure that the presidential primary was transparent.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that five presidential aspirants under the PDP on Friday, October 5, in Abuja, signed a peace accord as the party headed to its national convention which took place in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on Saturday, October 6.

Legit.ng gathered that those who put pen to paper to ensure that they remained faithful to the party irrespective of the outcome of the primary election were Senate president Bukola Saraki, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Tanimu Turaki, Datti Babba-Ahmed and Sule Lamido.
