Nollywood actress Funke Adesiyan wins APC's state House of Assembly primary election

Funke Adesiyan is a popular Nollywood actress renowned for her roles in several Yoruba movies. Only recently, she has once again showed her active interest in politics by contesting for a political post in Oyo state.

As gathered by, she is vying for a seat in Oyo state House of Assembly in the election coming up in 2019. The publicity visual which she posted on her Instagram page revealed she was campaigning on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

However, the beautiful lady still had to cross the hurdle of the APC primary election which held recently. After the primaries, Funke took to her Instagram page to announce that she has successfully gone past this barrier.

According to her, she won the the primary election of a particular local government in Oyo state called Ibadan south East 2. While she had 207 votes, her opponent had 32 votes.

The lady who was immensely happy and grateful for this new achievement also wrote a lengthy caption that depicted her happiness and also advised others who were equally dreaming of achieving a feat to keep at it. See her full post here:

"Yes we did it! I wish to thank Almighty Allah for his mercies. I wish to thank His Excellency Governor Abiola Ajimobi who gave a chance for free and fair primaries in my local Government yesterday despite pressure of imposition by some elements.

Thank you to Leaders of our party, APC at the state and Local government level for entrusting me with this mandate. To the glory of God, I won the primary election of Ibadan south East 2 with 207 votes against my contender who had 32 votes. I wish to thank all our leaders and delegates for their unquestionable believe in the brand FUNKE ADESIYAN.

Thank you for not allowing the sham that almost marred our people process yesterday. To every little boy and girl out there dreaming, dream tall. Never let anyone stop you."

As it appears, Funke had earlier contested for a seat at the Oyo state House of Assembly in 2015 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but she did not win. The actress has shown her full involvement in politics again by also supporting others who were contesting for positions in the upcoming 2019 elections.

Apart from supporting Adebayo Adelabu who she hopes will be the next governor of Oyo state, Funke has also shown her unreserved loyalty to Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, the son of Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro who once ran for governor of Lagos state under the umbrella of PDP. The older Obanikoro, however, lost to Babatunde Fashola.

With regards to her own latest victory, many fans of the actress have congratulated her and urged her on. A lot of them particularly said that she was a role model who deserved to win.
