Ohanaeze youths demand PDP’s vice-president slot for southeast zone

- The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council alleges that there is a plan to sideline the southeast region by the leadership of the PDP

- The council alleges that the PDP is planning to zone its vice-president slot to the southwest zone ahead of the 2019 election

- A new political force known as Peoples Trust is formed ahead of the 2019 presidential election

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) has threatened to sink the presidential bid of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 if the party fails to zone its vice presidential slot to the southeast region.

Vanguard reports that the group in a statement in Abakaliki alleged that there was a plot to sideline the southeast zone in the opposition.

It warned that it would mobilise the zone to vote massively for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 if the PDP fails to heed its demand.

“It was learnt that PDP had perfected plans to deny the South East, the vice presidential slot which they plan to zone to the South West after the primaries,” the group said.

“We see this plot as wickedness and political treachery against Ndigbo who had paid dearly for the survival of PDP since 1999.

“We are warning the leadership of PDP not to toy with the people of the South-East regarding the vice presidential slot or be prepared to lose the votes of Igbo youths in the 2019 presidential election.

“Igbo Youths will only vote PDP in other elections such as gubernatorial and senatorial elections in Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu but will wait to sink PDP in the presidential election if they deny the South East the vice president position after their primaries.

Meanwhile, ahead of the 2019 presidential election, a new political force, a mega party known as Peoples Trust (PT), has emerged. According to Leadership, the party is led by a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olisa Agbakoba (SAN).
