Governor Alhaji Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday, October 3, emerged winner of the just concluded senatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Borno state.
The Punch reports that the chairman of the party senatorial electoral committee, Ahmed Almaduzu, on Thursday, October 4, announced the result.
Legit.ng gathered that Shettima secured 2,735 votes to beat his opponent Alhaji Ali Wurge who scored 5 votes.

The governor in brief acceptance speech shortly after the official declaration, thanked his co-contestant and all his supporters for the confidence reposed in him.
Senator Babakaka Garbai who currently represents the Borno central at the National Assembly served as Shettima’s agent at the election.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Senator Danjuma Laah picked the PDP ticket to seek re-election to represent his Kaduna south senatorial constituency.
Laah, the only PDP senator in the north west geo-political zone, polled 592 votes to defeat his only challenger, Rep.

Adams Jagaba, who got 353 votes in the election that had nine invalid votes. Announcing the result of the election in Kafanchan, the returning officer, Alhaji Balarabe Sani Garba, said that a total of 972 delegates were accredited for the election that started in the midnight.
In a related development, Senate Leader Ahmad Lawan clinched the APC ticket to contest the Yobe north senatorial election.
Alhaji Umar Kareto, the returning officer of the election, said a total of 1,865 delegates were accredited out of which the senate leader polled 1,702 votes and 12 invalid.
Lawan, who emerged unopposed, appreciated the people for investing their trust in him to represent the zone in the senate.
