Senator Smart Adeyemi has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Kogi west senatorial district.
Vanguard reports that at the early hour of Thursday, October 4, Adeyemi was declared winner of the election held in the state at Olonijola Event centre, Kabba headquarter.
Legit.ng gathers that the process which started on Wednesday, October 3, by 11.30pm and ended at 6.30am on Thursday, October 4, had the presence of Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agents.
Adeyemi, a former senator, was reported to have carried the day with 1,659 votes, defeating three other aspirants including Toyin Akanle, Tajudeen Bissimillahi, and Ibikunle Adedoyin who polled 104, 98, and 19 votes respectively.
In his words, the returning officer, Bonnie Eneh, said 1,900 delegates were accredited out of which 1,893 delegates participated in the exercise.
In the similar exercise held in the state, Jubril Isah (Echocho) was declared the winner of APC Kogi east primary election.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the chairman of the Kogi state chapter of the APC, Alhaji Hadi Ametuo, and other members of his executive were expelled from the party.
The acting state chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahovi announced the expulsion of Ametuo and others during a press conference in Lokoja.
Ahovi, who was leading a faction of the party loyal to Governor Yahaya Bello, said the expulsion was with immediate effect.
