The spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena, has reportedly said he is not aware of any cancellation of the governorship primaries ongoing in Lagos; thus putting paid to report of any such cancellation.
Premium Times reports that Nabena said this in a brief telephone interview.
“I am not aware (of any such cancellation),” the spokesperson was quoted to have said minutes after he released a statement announcing the cancellation of the primary in Imo state.
Nabena's statement is allegedly a clarification of an earlier report on the reported cancellation.
The primary pitches the incumbent Lagos governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, against Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has the support of majority of the APC leaders in Lagos.
It commenced across the state in the early morning of Tuesday, October 2, after two postponements.
Meanwhile, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the APC on Tuesday, October 2, said that though Governor Ambode had done well in office, he has not been a good party man.
Legit.ng gathered that for this reason, Tinubu said, the APC has decided to withdraw support for the governor who wished to go for a second term.
Tinubu spoke with journalists at Ward C, Ikeja local government area, after the conclusion of voting in the Lagos APC governorship primary.
