Rivers state governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Tuesday, October 2, held a consultative meeting with former vice president Atiku Abubakar at the Government House Port Harcourt.
The Nation reports that Atiku who is the People's Democratic Party presidential aspirant arrived government House Port Harcourt in company of former Ogun state governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and other campaign officials.
Also in attendance at the meeting were the former Rivers state governor, Celestine Omehia, Rivers state PDP chairman, Felix Obuah and Chief of Staff to the Rivers state governor, Emeka Woke.
It was learnt that the former vice president visited Wike to canvass for delegate votes ahead of the party's national convention.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a poll predicted that a former governor of Kaduna state, Senator Ahmed Mohamed Makarfi, would emerge as the party’s presidential candidate on Saturday, October 6.
An interim situation report on 12 PDP presidential aspirants by an independent group, Presidential Mediation Committee showed that Makarfi was the early favorite before the primary election.

The report was signed by the committee's protem-chairman; Honourable Samaila Kankia, acting secretary; Amos Goje and facilitator, Malam Muhammad Tasiu Hassan.
In a related development, a coalition of Northern youths within the PDP accused the leadership of the party of conniving with Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, to rig the presidential primaries of the party by moving the convention to Port Harcourt.
In a press statement signed by its convener, Honourable Awwal Dahiru, the group alleged that the plot by the Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee is to move the convention to Port Harcourt to enable Governor Wike conveniently install his preferred aspirant as the presidential candidate of the party.
