Anambra south APC: Onyejegbu steps down, endorses Senator Uba

- A major contender for the Anambra south APC senatorial ticket, Colonel Geoff Onyejegbu (Ph.d), has stepped down

- Onyejegbu endorsed the aspiration of Senator Andy Uba who is seeking the Senate seat for a third term

- The retired colonel described Uba as the best among the aspirants to represent the zone

A major contender for the Anambra south All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket, Colonel Geoff Onyejegbu (Ph.d), has stepped down from the contest scheduled for Tuesday, October 2.

Onyejegbu endorsed the aspiration of Senator Andy Uba who is seeking the Senate seat for a third term, describing him as the best among the aspirants to represent the zone

This is coming at a time, another aspirant in the race, Sir Azuka Okwuosa, has come under pressure from diverse quarters to stand down his aspiration and support Senator Uba.

In the forefront of this campaign to step down, are the APC stakeholders in Ekwusigo local government area of the state, which is where both Okwuosa and Onyejegbu hail from.

In a resolution signed by APC stakeholders in the area, the stakeholders endorsed Senator Uba and advised their sons to step down for the senator. They said they took the decision after extensive consultation and consideration of factors surrounding the Anambra south senatorial primary election.

They observed that Senator Uba, being the highest ranked APC senator from the southeast, would in the 9th Senate, next year, be the most qualified to become president of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to them, the prospect of the zone producing the next Senate president, is a fundamental reason for everyone to support Senator Andy Uba.

Senator Uba recently concluded a tour of the seven local governments that constitute the Anambra south senatorial district, as he seeks to return to the Senate.

The APC senator used the tour to interface with party delegates and his constituents on his performance in the upper chamber so far.

He also used the opportunity to settle all warring APC factions in the senatorial zone to ensure a united front in preparation for the polls.
