If Instagram were real life and the amount of followers one had equal to their daily income, then BBNaija's Alex would have been a millionaire and then not, all in one day.
Unfortunately and fortunately for the 21-year-old reality star, Instagram isn't real life and earning money in reality requires more effort than generating likes and comments.
In this social media age, where brands find every means to hook on major influencers on the gram, it's no surprise that so much value is attached to followership, and celebs, take time out to make speeches and thank you notes when they hit a new milestone of followers.
It was no different for BBNaija queen, Alex, who hit one million followers and decided to pop virtual champagnes on her gain. Without wasting time, she shared a photo informing her followers she will be hitting one million in a second and screen munched how far she had come in gaining a million followers.
However, she spoke too soon. Just as she was getting set to jump up and shut hallelujah, Instagram rained on her parade and she went down a couple of thousands.
Many accused her of buying fake followers but her fans came back fighting strong, increasing it yet again to a million.
Realising that whether she had a million followers or less, she was still loved, she then released a statement thanking her supporters for their love. To her, such show of care and support trumps hitting the million followers benchmark.
It's not surprising that Alex is one of the loved celebs on the gram. Recently, she made the list to Legit.ng 's favourites who killed it during the Agbada Challenge.
Alex and many other Nigerian celebrities showed up looking all shades of gorgeous in their various agbada designs.
