Oyetola will build on the legacies of Governor Aregbesola - APC

- The APC has congratulated Gboyega Oyetola for winning the Osun election

Kunle Oyatomi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesman in Osun, on Friday, September 28, said governor-elect, Gboyega Oyetola, would build on the legacies of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Oyatomi said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the announcement of Oyetola as the winner of the gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osogbo.

He commended Aregbesola for delivering good democratic dividends which had transformed the state. He also commended INEC for its display of professionalism and the security agencies for ensuring the election was peaceful.

Oyatomi, however, urged the people of the state to support the incoming governor in achieving the mandate of making Osun greater than its present status.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oyetola polled 255,505 to defeat PDP’s Ademola Adeleke, who had 255,023 votes.

Meanwhile, the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has described Thursday, September 27, rerun election held in Osun state as a total sham and the biggest electoral fraud in the history of the country.

Channels TV reports that Saraki, who is also a presidential aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated this while addressing journalists during his campaign tour in Kaduna state.

Legit.ng gathered that the Senate president consequently called for the cancellation of the result, especially in view of the complaints made about the supplementary election.

Saraki accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of rigging the election, stressing that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, ought to have been declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, September 23.
