2019: I am APC’s sole presidential candidate - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari says he is the only one contesting for the presidency in 2019 in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Vanguard, the president made the comment during an interactive session with the Nigerian community in the United States.

Legit.ng gathers that the president reportedly stated: “I am the only one contesting for presidency in APC, those who wanted to contest against me left for other parties, but I will meet them there.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a New York-based analysis firm, Teneo Intelligence, stated that President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) could lose the 2019 general elections.

Using the Osun state governorship election as a yardstick, the intelligence firm said Buhari could lose his power if the opposition manages to unite.

It added that the close governorship election in Osun bodes badly for the APC as it signals its waning popularity, Teneo said in a note to clients.

“There is already a clear message sent from Osun state. Provided the PDP remains united, and the vote is reasonably free and fair, Buhari and his APC are likely to lose the general elections,” said Malte Liewerscheidt, an analyst at Teneo.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) postponed its presidential primary election again to Friday, September 28, as against the earlier date of Thursday, September 27.

In a series of tweets on Monday, September 24, Yekini Nabena said the election was rescheduled because of the Osun governorship re-run election fixed for Thursday, September 27, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
