Andre Silva’s brace and Wissam Ben Yedder goal in the first half was all Sevilla needed to thrash Real Madrid 3-0 on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, in a La Liga showdown.
The encounter which took place at the Estadio Ramon saw Real Madrid the only unbeaten team in the Spanish topflight, but all that changed in the 17th minute after Navas broke down the right, before delivering a low cross into Silva’s path to place the ball past Courtois for the opener.
On the 20th minute mark Lukas Modric tried a response for Real Madrid, getting the ball in the middle of the park for a goal opportunity, but Sevilla cleared their lines.
On the 21st Sevilla got their second of the match after a fast counter-attack found Silva free in the box to score from a loose ball off Courtois’s save to convert.
Bale tried in vain to pull one back on the 24th minute, but he could only hit the post, with a powerful effort from distance.
Few minute later the Welshman received a booking for a late challenge on Vazquez with Real Madrid still two goals down.
Kroos also had a shot wide of the post with a long-range effort on the 31st minute as the Los Blancos tried to get into the game.
The third goal could have arrived for Sevilla on the 34th minute, but Vazquez’s curling effort, could only hit the crossbar to keep scores still at 2-0 in favour of Sevilla.
Yedder netted the third in the 39th minute to see Sevilla head into the break with a 3-0 advantage.
The goal was created off a short corner-kick routine which allowed Ever Banega to deliver the ball into the box.
Raphael Varane met the cross with a clearing header but could only find Vazquez just outside the penalty area.
The midfielder attempted a volley a pass forward which met Ben Yedder onside the area to smash past Courtois.
In the second stanza, Sevilla goalie Tomas Vaclik made a top class save to stop Bale from registering just past the hour, before the Wales captain strike was wide off the mark.
Mariano Diaz also tried his luck for the away side in the 71st minute, but the summer arrival effort, could only fly over the crossbar.
The Los Blancos were in for more troubles in the last 15 minutes, when Marcelo limped off the field with a calf problem, which could likely stop him from this weekend's Madrid derby with Atletico Madrid.
Vazquez should have made it four for Sevilla in the 80th minute, but he fired his chance over the crossbar from close range.
At the end of 90 minutes the scoreboard read 3-0 in favour of the home side. A result that saw the Los Blancos suffer their first defeat of the 2018/19 campaign.
The Los Blancos now sit 2nd in La Liga log with 13 points from six matches.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Spanish League champions Barcelona were handed their first defeat of the season after losing 2-1 to Leganes away from home.
Brazil superstar Philippe Coutinho opened scoring for the Catalans in the 12th minute of the encounter after being assisted by Lionel Messi.
But two quick goals from Nabil El Zha abd Oscar in the 52nd and 53rd minutes of the encounter to stun the defending champions on Wednesday night.
