President Muhammadu Buhari was cheered by his wife Aisha and his daughter Halima after delivering his address at the General Debate of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, September 25.
The governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, and the minister of health, Isaac Adewole also congratulated the president for his address at the UN general debate.
President Buhari called for global action on corruption, security and UN reforms in his address to world leaders at the ongoing 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.
Buhari, who was the 14th speaker on the first day of the general debate, also unfolded Nigeria’s positions on international matters before the global audience.
The president in his statement painted a distressing picture of the Lake Chad, saying the shrinking water body meant a loss of livelihoods to the 45 million people in the area.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, denied ordering the arrest of her Aide de Camp, Sani Baban-Inna, over alleged fraud.
There have been earlier reports that Aisha had ordered that her aide be arrested, but in a statement issued by her director of information, Suleiman Haruna, on Tuesday, September 25, the First Lady insisted that the police only did their job.
She said the aide has been working with her since 2016 but investigation showed he has been using his position to defraud unsuspecting associates. Aisha insisted she has no hand in the arrest.
