Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Liverpool are not interested in signing former Bayern Munich ace Mario Gotze despite reports linking the German star with the Premier League club.

According to a UK Mirror report, Klopp revealed that Gotze’s addition would have been possible back in 2016 when the Reds were short of one place.

However, after two years, the Reds have changed their requirements regarding new players, since shifting from a 4-2-3-1 formation to 4-3-3.

The German tactician also noted that the club have moved on from Philippe Coutinho era to become one of Europe’s most-dangerous counter-attacking team and as such, don’t need the services of the 26-year-old Gotze, who is struggling for form at Dortmund.

"If I want to talk to Mario I'll call him," Klopp was quoted as saying while reacting about the possibility of a Gotze-Klopp reunion at Anfield.

Interestingly, in 2013, at the age of 21, Gotze then at Borussia Dortmund was at the top of his career after back-to-back success in the Bundesliga as well as a decent run in the Champions League, informed Klopp in clear terms he wasn’t the right man for the Reds.

But later Gotze agreed to become a Bayern player after the Bavarians coughed out the player’s €37m buyout clause the following season.

Surprisingly, five years down the road Klopp is now a success story at Liverpool, whom he has led to two European finals, while Gotze despite a promising debut year at Bayern and a World Cup final winning-goal in 2014 is now a shadow of himself at Dortmund.

"Maybe it would be good for him to go abroad in the winter to find a bit more peace and bring his career back on track,” Dortmund coach Kevin Grosskreutz, was quoted as saying by Sky Deutschland over the weekend.

"Klopp knows him quite well, he would be a good fit for Liverpool,” he added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Liverpool goalkeeper has demanded for an apology from Sergio Ramos following his collision with the Real Madrid captain in last season's Champions League final.

The German shot-stopper made two costly mistakes that gifted Los Blancos two goals and led the Spanish side to their third straight European title.

The 25-year-old stated he was unsure of Ramos' intent but all he wanted was an apology for the Spaniard.
