Operatives of the State Security Services (SSS) has detained an aide de camp to Nigeria's first lady, Aisha Buhari.
Sani Baban-Inna is said to have been arrested by the secret police over an alleged N2.5 billion fraud.
Punch reports that the spokesperson for the SSS, Nnochirionye Afunanya, said the case was handed over to the secret police by operatives at the Nigeria Police.
“His case was handed over by the police and investigation is ongoing,” Afunanya said.
It was gathered the First Lady had alleged that Baban-Inna received huge donations from politicians and businessmen and women on her behalf and refused to hand them over to her.
Aisha was said to have urged the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, to arrest and compel Baban-Inna to refund the money.
Also, the secret police is said to have set up a team of investigators to unravel the case.
The team had also asked for the bank accounts of the police officer and that of his wife, and is scheduled to visit his house at an undisclosed time.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Aisha denied ordering the arrest of her Aide de Camp, Sani Baban-Inna, over alleged fraud.
There has been earlier report that Aisha had ordered that her aide be arrested but in a statement issued by her director of information, Suleiman Haruna, on Tuesday, September 25, the first lady insisted that the police only did their job.
The First Lady said the aide has been working with her since 2016 but investigation showed he has been using his position to defraud unsuspecting associates.
