Derby County send Manchester United out of the EFL Cup

Premier League giants Manchester United have been thrown out of the 2018 Carabao Cup tournament after losing 7-8 on penalties at home against championship side Derby County.

Frenchman Paul Pogba was not listed in Manchester United squad as his fellow countryman Anthony Martial started against Frank Lampard side.

Manchester United started the match impressively and it took them only three minutes to score their goal through Juan Mata who was assisted by Jesse Lingard.

Harry Wilson restored parity for Derby County in the 59th minute via free-kick before Jack Marriott increased the scoreline for the visitors in the 86th minute.

Belgium international Marouane Fellaini scored at the death for Manchester United to force the match into penalties.

Phil Jones lost his kick for Jose Mourinho's side as Derby County sent Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup winning 8-7 on penalties.

Earlier, had reported how Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba saga continues to thicken as the Manchester United manager reportedly told his star Frenchman he would never captain the side again.

Mourinho was reportedly angered by Pogba’s post-match comments on United’s 1-1 draw with newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers.
