Manchester City stars depart late for Carabao Cup match with Oxford United

- Manchester City were delayed for their trip to Milton Keyens

- Pep Guardiola's side will face Oxford United in the Carabao Cup

- The Spanish manager said the Premier League is their priority

Pepe Guardiola is set to hand Oleksandr Zinchenko and Brahim Diaz a starting place in Manchester City's Carabao Cup game against Oxford United.

Ukraine international Zinchenko has not been involved in any top flight action while Diaz came on as a second substitute in City's Community Shield victory over Chelsea.

Brazil international Danilo could also make an appearance after recovering from an ankle injury while Nicolas Otamendi and Riyad Mahrez are set for first team action at the Kassam Stadium.

City players were delayed for their train trip to Milton Keyens but Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane and goalkeeper Ederson saw the funny side as they shared a joke on their way to the station.

First team players including Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Vincent Kompany made the trip but a couple of them are expected to rested for the tie.

In a pre-match conference Guardiola said that retaining the Premier League is top in their priority list for this season.

"The first priority is the Premier League, that is the nicest one," he said.

"When I see, for example, three teams like Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus in 10 years they won seven leagues, they show me they are the best teams.

"We want to be consistent and solid in that competition.

"After in the knockout games we want to improve on our mistakes we had in the past in knock-out games - to be more solid, avoiding mistakes and we're going to try (to go for) it (in the Carabao Cup)."

The Citizens will be welcoming Brighton to the Etihad on Saturday after their mid-week clash with Oxford United.

Guardiola's side are currently in second place behind league leaders Liverpool and level on points with Chelsea who are in third.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Faouzi Ghoulam has dashed the hopes of potential switch to Manchester City after signing a new five-year deal with Napoli.

The Pep Guardiola tutored-side are reportedly plotting a move to for the highly-rated left back next summer.
