- Former military ruler, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, says there can be no better candidate for president than Bukola Saraki
A said presidential aspirant of the Labour Party, Placid Emmanuel, has attributed Muhammadu Buhari’s emergence as president of Nigeria to an act of God.
The Tribune reports that Emmanuel, told a news conference in Awka, the Anambra state capital, that God allowed Buhari to become the president of the country as an answer to several years of prayer by Nigerians and to reveal those sponsoring the Boko Haram group.
“God has a reason for bringing Buhari. He brought him as an answered prayer. Nigerians were praying for God to reveal who the sponsors of Boko Haram were.
“God brought him to power so he’ll expose those behind the killings in the country and for us to see those killing us secretly,” he said.
The presidential aspirant said he was not in the presidential race to match forces with the incumbent president, but simply to contest the poll.
“I’ve not come to match Buhari, but I’m here to contest the presidency. You don’t need money to contest election. Nigerians have experienced something much more than giving them money," he said.
“When the time comes, you’ll see the powers that be go to sleep and wake up just to discover they have lost Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, former military ruler, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, has backed the presidential ambition of Senate president, Bukola Saraki.
Babangida on Sunday, September 16, said that Saraki was well prepared to be the president of Nigeria, the Nation reports.
The former military ruler made the statement at his residence in Minna, Niger state, when Saraki paid him a courtesy visit as part of his nationwide tour to seek support of PDP supporters and delegates for his nomination as the presidential candidate.
Babangida stated that there can be no better candidate than Saraki, owing to his experience as a governor, legislator and Senate president.
