- Pep Guardiola cancelled City's day off despite a 3-0 win against Fulham on Saturday
- The Spaniard was furious his players committed simple mistakes against the Cottagers
- Guardiola will be hoping to see improvement against Lyon in the Champions League
A fierce-looking Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola dragged his star-studded squad members back to the pitch for an extra training session on Sunday, September 16, less than 24-hour after thrashing Fulham 3-0.
According to a UK Sun report, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager was unhappy with the Citizens performance against the Cottagers, despite creating 28 goalscoring opportunities during the Premier League fixture.
“I am angry. I am upset with my players and they know that,” admitted a furious Guardiola, who starred in the club’s documentary All or Nothing, adding: “I can’t handle it when they miss the simple things, the simple pass, controlling the ball.
“We spoke about that many times. That’s why I am going to show them we can improve.”
During the extra session, squad members reviewed the Fulham match with the Spaniard, who later went on to explain some of the mistakes and wrong decisions the players committed.
German star Leroy Sane opened his goal account after 97 seconds of play before two more strikes from the pair of David Silva and Raheem Sterling sealed the win at Etihad.
“It’s the simple things — they know that. And it happened a few times, especially in the first half.
“After winning 100 points last season, the late arrival we had after the World Cup and because after you win you change your mind a little bit. But now we start, everyone’s going to settle.” Guardiola submitted.
The Premier League defending champions open hostilities in the Champions League on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 with a home fixture against French Ligue 1 side Lyon.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Leroy Sane set Man City on the path of victory after netting the opener in just 97 seconds, on his return to the side during their Premier League tie against Fulham on Saturday, September 15.
David Silva made sure City were in the driving seat with the second goal on the 21st minute before Raheem Sterling added the third on the 47th minute of play to claim maximum points for the defending champions.
The encounter at the Etihad Stadium saw Fulham start brightly, but an excellent interception in midfield by Selcao ace Fernandinho led to a fast counter attack, the Brazilian crossing to the German youngster Sané, who finished off nicely.
