- Minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has disowned Senator Magnus Abe over his comments
- He described Abe as an enemy of APC in Rivers state
- Senator Abe had described Amaechi as his political leader in the state
The minister of transportation and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state and the south-south zone, Rotimi Amaechi, has disowned the senator representing Rivers south in the National Assembly, Magnus Abe, as a member of party in the state.
Legit.ng regional reporter in Port Harcourt, Tony Ihunwo, reports that Amaechi, in a statement on Sunday, September 16, described the claim by Senator Abe as being nothing less that cheap, shameful and political sophistry.
It was gathered that Abe had last week at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, reportedly told newsmen that Amaechi is his leader.
But maechi, who is the immediate past governor of Rivers state, pointedly said he is not Abe’s leader, asking the senator to stop deceiving the public.
Amaechi, in the statement, wondered how, according to him, a member who “wakes up and creates an imaginary parallel party executive” and go ahead “to open an office for the non-existent parallel executive that has no base and foundation,” could claim to be his follower.
Amaechi also said that it was very doubtful if Senator Abe is not working against the APC, saying, “As a matter of fact, his actions are obviously targeted at weakening and destroying the party.”
According to Amaechi, “I am not Magnus Abe’s leader. Abe has long left me and the political family that is largely responsible for his rise and fame in politics,” Amaechi said in a statement released by his media office over the weekend.
“How can I be Abe’s leader when he and the minions sponsored by him (Abe), privately and publicly abuses, insults, cast aspersions etc on me, my wife and members of my family, daily? Is that how a follower treats his leader?
“It’s cheap and indeed shameful political sophistry for Abe to stand in the APC secretariat and deceitfully say I am his leader, while all he has done, both privately and publicly in recent times is to undermine me, the APC and desecrate the APC in Rivers state.
"As a matter of fact, it is indeed very doubtful if Senator Abe is still in the APC. He mouths APC but his actions belie his words and clearly tell a different story.
“A man who wakes up, create an imaginary parallel party executive and went ahead to open an office for the non-existent parallel executive, that has no base and foundation, cannot be said to be committed, in anyway, to the party.

"As a matter of fact, his actions are obviously targeted at weakening and destroying the party. Such a hypocritical, devious character cannot be my follower. I am not his leader,” the statement concluded.
It was gathered that the Nigerian Ambassador to Netherlands has been unveiled as APC senatorial aspirant to for Rivers south senatorial district and Tonye Cole as the governorship aspirant for the party by its state chairman, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the minister of transportation and former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, promised Nigerians that they would see more from him and the ministry in the new year.
This was in response to one of his followers who told the minister that Nigerians don't often hear from him or his ministry.
