- Adam Lallana is not fit for Liverpool's trip to Tottenham
- Jurgen Klopp will have to make do without the midfielder for the trip against Spurs
- Lallana suffered the injury while on England duty
Premier League leaders Liverpool suffered an injury blow after it emerged that England star Adam Lallana will not be making the trip to London to tackle Tottenham on Saturday, September 15.
According to UK Sun report, Reds German manager Jurgen Klopp revealed the injury is "not serious" but Lallana will not be available for selection in Saturday’s early kick-off contest in the Premier League.
"Adam is on a good way. It’s obviously not too serious but he is not available for the weekend and maybe not for the next week [and] then I hope he can be back,” the Three Lions ace was at the club’s session last week but was excused from the rest of the gang after dropping a complaint.
"Adam Lallana has returned to his club for further assessment of a groin strain.
"The Liverpool player was withdrawn from training earlier this afternoon and will play no part in England’s forthcoming fixtures against Spain and Switzerland,” a statement from the English FA read in part.
Interestingly, the report further hinted that the forward, missed out of England squad to the summer World Cup in Russia, due to frequent injuries as well as lack of match fitness during the season.
Speaking further, the Reds manager affirmed that Belgium goalie Simon Mignolet is in Liverpool matchday despite initial fears concerning a hand injury.
"Simon is OK, he trained completely normally. We gave him the rest he needed with the finger issue. It is fine, he has trained normally, catching balls all fine.
"Goalies are pretty hard in that; they’re used to a little pain in their hands and fingers. He’s trained good,” the German submitted.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Tottenham have ruled out the pair of French World Cup goalie Hugo Lloris and England’s midfielder Dele Alli when they square up against Liverpool in Saturday’s early fixture.
According to a UK Sun report, the 22-year-old Alli is currently down with a hamstring injury and will not play any role for Spurs on Saturday.
On the other hand, the North London dwellers will also miss the services of their skipper Lloris, who is yet to regain full match fitness from a thigh injury.
