Chelsea and their Premier League rivals Manchester United are in a race to sign Roma defender Kosta Manolas when the January 2019 transfer window opens.
Since Kosta Manolas joined Italian side Roma from Olympiacos in 2014, the 27-year-old has established himself in the starting lineups of the club.
According to the report by Calcio Mecarto, Roma are trying to make Kosta Manolas sign a long deal at the club, as they are not ready to allow him to leave.
The report added that Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho is desperate to bring in another central defender to Old Trafford next year in which Manolas is a target.
Chelsea on the other hand are also interested in signing Kosta Manolas who has been a target for Maurizio Sarri since his reign at Napoli.
The Blues have won all their four games this season in the Premier League.
