Chief press secretary to Benue governor, Terver Akase, has assured Benue people that the Ortom administration will not relent in its commitment to taking the state to greater heights of development.
Akase gave the assurance on Thursday, September 13, when he visited the Benue state secretariat of the PDP and met with the state publicity secretary of the party, Bemgba Iortyom.
He said Governor Ortom remains focused on the task of overcoming the numerous economic and security challenges confronting the state.
He further stated that heartwarming signs were already showing, pointing out that the regular payment of workers salaries since January this year has proven that the Benue state government is determined to clear the arrears of salaries.
The media aide stated that the PDP stands for people-oriented development, stressing that Governor Ortom, who is one of those who built the party in the state, would work assiduously for its victory at the general election next year.
According to him, Governor Ortom was happy to return to the party, adding that PDP is known for many good things, and it is a political party which encourages those who win elections on its platform to perform creditably instead of encouraging godfatherism and impunity.
Akase commended the critical role the PDP played in promoting good governance while in the opposition, saying he was in the office of the state publicity secretary of the party to demonstrate their resolve to synergize and deepen information dissemination in the interest of the state.
Earlier, Iortyom thanked the governor's aide for the visit and assured him of a harmonious working relationship.
The PDP spokesman while commending Governor Ortom for the decision to return to the party, observed that there was renewed vigour in the manner the governor has been addressing development challenges facing the state since his defection from APC.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, September 12, lost 5,000 members in Delta state to the PDP.
Delta governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and the Delta state chairman of the PDP, Barrister Kingsley Esiso, received the defectors at an event in Ogono-Orogun, Ughelli North local government area of the state.
The decampees led by one Chief Akpoyibo, declared their loyalty to the PDP and the Okowa-led administration.
