Service chiefs relocate to Borno over Boko Haram renewed attack

- Service chiefs are relocating to Lake chad region of Borno state

- This is to help them strategise on how to combat Boko Haram terrorism in the area

The chief of army staff, Gen Tukur Buratai, has relocated to the Boko Haram terrorists-ravaged areas in the Lake Chad region of Borno state, while the chief of air staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, is expected to arrive the town on Thursday, September 13.

The Punch reports that the Nigerian Air Force on Wednesday, September 12, also deployed about eleven fighter jets to the troubled region.

The NAF director of public relations and information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, who confirmed the deployment, said: "The Chief of Army Staff is in Borno and inspecting those locations and the Chief of the Air Staff has been to Borno earlier and he is also expected to come again.

“I am also in Maiduguri. You have two Mi-35M helicopters, two Alpha Jets, a number of F-7Ni and other aircraft deployed in the troubled areas. So, there is a concentration of forces dealing with this problem."

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Operation Lafia Dole of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), destroyed some facilities of the Boko Haram terrorists, at Bukar Meram and Tumbun Allura on the fringes of Lake Chad in Borno.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF director of public relations and information, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Daramola who said the operation was carried out on Sunday, September 9, added that several insurgents were neutralised.
