Accord Party sacks Doyin Okupe

Accord Party has terminated the membership of former special assistant to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, for what it described as anti-party activities.

Okupe's membership termination came few days after presidential aspirant, Senate President Bukola Saraki, appointed him as the chairman of his media campaign.

He recently defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to fulfill his presidential ambition. He is running for presidency on the PDP platform.

Daily Trust reports that Abiola Ajaja, the party's national secretary of the party, said the party took the decision after they invited Okupe severally and he declined to honour the invitation.

Ajaja also claimed that Okupe 'refused to desist from his negative actions' despite warnings.

Recall that earlier reported that Saraki appointed Okupe as chairman of the media council for his campaign organisation ahead of 2019 general elections.

Okupe’s appointment was officially announced by Mohammed Wakil, director general of the Saraki Presidential Campaign Organisation.

Wakil announced that Okupe will “work with other top professionals in the team to effectively communicate the campaign messages of Dr. Saraki to the people of Nigeria and the international community."
